‘Sons of Anarchy’ star books role on ABC pilot from ‘House’ creator
David Shore is working on a brand-new pilot for ABC known as “Doubt,” and now we know that the exec has landed one actor who will certainly feel familiar to fans of a certain cable series.
Sources confirm that Rockmond Dunbar, otherwise known as cop-with-a-vengeance Eli Roosevelt on “Sons of Anarchy” over the past few seasons, has signed to star in the pilot as Steve Evans, a friend of the show’s main character Vince (a detective-turned-lawyer), who used to work with him while on the force. Steve has a bit of a rough past, but many of the lessons that he learned are now things that he tries to apply to his everyday life. He’s also someone who will be a valuable foil to Vince, and question many of the choices that he makes.
So what does this really mean for the actor’s future on “Sons of Anarchy? We already know that this show’s creator in Kurt Sutter is not afraid to kill people off, but the last we saw Eli in season 5, he was on a bit of a warpath and was in part responsible for arresting Tara just before she was set to get out of Charming to Oregon. This casting certainly does not bode well for Dunbar’s character here, but it should be noting that production on “Sons of Anarchy” will begin after this pilot is shot, and he would still have at least a month and a half to shoot with Sutter before production on “Doubt” would pick up … if it is ordered to series.
Are you excited about this news, or more worried that it means the end of Eli? If you want to hear what Sutter is saying about Jimmy Smits on “Sons of Anarchy” season 6, you can do so over here.
