‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: More reasons to get excited for season 2 DVD

TyrionUsually when a TV show releases its newest season on DVD, you do not see the sort of publicity blitz going on that HBO has for the upcoming second season of “Game of Thrones,” which hits stores on Tuesday. There are countless special features that are going to be available in the box, and we have a couple of the more interesting ones below that have been teased a little bit early online.

For whatever reason, we have a hard time watching the first clip below (via “Access Hollywood“) without thinking of the Joker in “The Dark Knight” saying “do you want to know how I got these scars?” during a famous monologue. After all, this clip focuses on Peter Dinklage and some members of the excellent crew talking about the now-famous moment from “Blackwater” when Tyrion Lannister’s face is sliced open. You don’t really have just a great deal of time to see the scar healed up during season 2, but this photo above from the upcoming season gives you a pretty good idea of just how permanent this mark is going to be. (We have a feeling that Dinklage is having to spend a lot more time in the makeup chair these days.)

There is also a promotional campaign going on, if you have not heard already, for the DVD that gives you an opportunity to record your voice giving the oath to join the Night’s Watch, and to have it joined the chorus of so many other big names. Just to give you an example of who else has taken the oath already, just listen to A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin below.

For those of you awaiting more “Game of Thrones” season 3 video footage, do not fret: currently, the expectation is that the first full trailer for the new episodes (premiering on March 31) will be released prior to the end of the month.
