‘Lost’ alum Josh Holloway returning to TV full-time in CBS pilot
CBS has been unafraid to use former “Lost” stars in their new hit series, having cast Daniel Dae Kim in one (“Hawaii Five-0”) and Michael Emerson in another (“Person of Interest”). Now, it’s looking as though it is finally Josh Holloway’s turn to get the nod.
According to a new report from Deadline, Holloway, whose most-notable TV credit since appearing on the hit ABC drama series was a guest spot on “Community” during season 2, has signed on to play Gabriel Black in the network pilot “Intelligence.” The show is set within a special division of US Cyber Command, and focuses on a powerful individual who has been granted some sort of special abilities courtesy of a microchip that has been implanted in his brain. Basically, think of this as a more-serious, less-geeky version of “Chuck,”
This show was hardly the first offer thrown Holloway’s direction over the past couple of years, as he has routinely been one of the most sought-after actors in pilot season thanks to his enormous popularity. Many “Lost” actors, including Jorge Garcia and Elizabeth Mitchell, have actually already been on multiple shows in the time that it has taken him to decide on his first attempt to return to the medium full-time.
The ball will ultimately be in CBS’ court when it comes to whether or not they want to order Holloway’s series, but the network may have a few more openings on its schedule than usual. “The Job” is almost sure to be canceled, “Vegas” is iffy at best, and “The Mentalist” and “CSI: NY” are almost surely going to be on the bubble. It would actually make some sense to move “Elementary” to a different night, and put this show after “Person of Interest” to capitalize on what could be a similar audience.
