‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2, episode 13 review: Jorge Garcia’s second act
We don’t know what was a more welcome sight on Sunday night’s new “Once Upon a Time” season 2 episode: seeing Regina start to become the Evil Queen yet again over how the town of Storybrooke has treated her, or seeing Jorge Garcia return as Anton / the Giant. Regardless, this made for a rather entertaining hour as we found out a great deal more about the man’s backstory, and just why he hates humans so much in the first place.
The story for the Giant was really rather simple: he was feeling like an outcast, and thus decided to descend down to the world of the humans in order to meet some new friends. Sadly, these people did not turn out to be who he thought they were … including Jack the female giant-killer and James, who just so happens to be David’s twin brother.
It is because James was responsible for the death of all of his people (who loved him despite their differences) that Anton was brought to Storybrooke by Cora, and the goal was simple: to have him wreck havoc on David by mistake. For a while (especially thanks to the Evil Queen restoring him briefly to his former glory) it almost worked … but then, he was eventually turned back, and convinced that these were good people in this town.
The good news for Garcia fans is that this episode ended with hope that he could come back for appearances in the future, as he ended up joining the dwarves and even planting a beanstalk in the town.
As for the story of Emma, Mr. Gold, and Henry, all we really saw of them this week was them getting on board the airplane, and Gold starting to struggle with the fact that his magic was starting to disappear, and he was helpless in a world where he no longer had any power.
What did you think about this episode, and did you find yourself feeling bad for Anton the majority of the time? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and you can check out some news about a returning character to “Once Upon a Time” over at the link here.

I love the giant!! He is too soft and squishy to be a part of the evil in the town.
