‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 6 spoilers: First look at Raj’s possible romance

When we first heard the news that Kate Micucci was going to be guest-starring on multiple episodes of “The Big Bang Theory” as a love interest to Kunal Nayyar’s character of Raj, our general reaction to it was a mixture of happiness and also concern. While we have loved the actress in some of her other comedic roles (“Scrubs,” “Raising Hope”), the obvious fear here was that she was going to come out and have her character of Lucy be another cutesy girl with an ukulele who sings clever songs.

Luckily, we have just seen the first photo of Micucci for the gig, and there is no evidence of there being any sort of ukulele around at all. Instead, she is just a girl attending a Valentine’s Day party put on by Stuart and Raj at the comic book store. So how is he talking to her? We’re guessing that alcohol is somehow involved, as he knew that woman could potentially shot up here so her probably came prepared.

While we know that Lucy is going to be a woman that catches Raj’s eye, what is important to point out here is that there is no guarantee that he and her will actually get together. After all, doing so would bring the total number of regular actors on the show to eight (plus some other characters like Stuart, who has had series regular status this season), and that is a lot of people to cram into a half-hour show on a weekly basis.

Even if this romance does not end up sticking, all we hope for it is that Raj takes something out of it that he can use in all of his relationships going forward. We don’t want the guy to be alone together; after all, it’s been a struggle seeing him alone for as long as we have.
