‘Modern Family’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Criminal Minds’ alum Paget Brewster cast as…
A criminal mind is about to cross over into the world of “Modern Family” … at least when it comes to one of the actresses who starred on the hit CBS show for many years.
According to a new report from TVLine, Paget Brewster has been cast for the ABC comedy to play the role of Trish for at least one episode of the show. This character is described as fairly well-to-do and sophisticated, and she just so happens to be the girlfriend of Benjamin Bratt’s character of Javier. Expect some fire when this character interacts with Javier’s ex Gloria (Sofia Vergara), who is of course never one to shy away from having an opinion.
An interesting coincidence about this casting is that this is the second straight role (following “Law & Order: SVU”) that Brewster has taken ironically on a show that competes against “Criminal Minds” in the schedule. This one show be fun in that she gets to show off a side that many viewers do not know about, as she has appeared in guest roles on both “Friends” and “Two and a Half Men” in the past. (Brewster is also a voice actor, who has voiced a number of funny characters over the years.)
“Modern Family” is going to continue airing new episodes all spring, but it does have more competition than it traditionally does in the fall courtesy of the monster known as “American Idol.” While the ratings for the talent competition have decreased, it barely tracked at all behind the 2012 season with its second episode on Thursday. Perhaps this is a sign of good things to come for it, and more competition for the Dunphy – Pritchett clan.
