NBC throws Betty White another birthday party, invites Bill Cosby and Sean Hayes

NBC LogoWe want to be rather delicate when it comes to sharing this story, mostly because we have to say that we’re extremely happy for Betty White and her increased popularity. With that being said, we are still rather surprised that NBC is giving her another birthday party.

The network announced on Wednesday that on Tuesday, February 5, the legendary entertainer is going to have what is being billed as her second annual 90th birthday party, and some of the guests who are expected to be in attendance for the show this year include the likes of Bill Clinton, the legendary Bill Cosby, Sean Hayes, former “Chuck” star Zachary Levi, her “Hot in Cleveland” co-stars, and also “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton. It’s basically a number of people associated with NBC in some shape or form, along with Betty’s close friends and a former President.

You see, the reason for our surprise is not necessarily that we are unhappy for Betty or her craft by any means; it’s that having a televised birthday party feels a little less exciting when it is not a milestone year, and it when it is done on a semi-regular basis. The reason the ratings were so strong for last year’s event is because we were still in the middle of Betty-mania, and because the idea of a network birthday tribute was something that we hadn’t quite seen before. Then again, considering some of the recent ratings that NBC has posted, we have a feeling that they are probably going to be happy even if the show drops by a pretty large percentage.

What do you think about NBC giving Betty another birthday party: is it a great idea, or a sign that the star is almost becoming a little overexposed? If you want to read some more news about Betty, be sure to head over to the link here.
