‘American Idol’ notes: Phillip Phillips, Adam Lambert, Ryan Seacrest
In honor of the season premiere for “American Idol,” we’re doing something a little bit different and giving you a little bit more coverage today than usual … and with that, let’s dive straight into some notes that include some past performances, some honors, and plenty more.
Phillip’s performance – In a move that is timed-out perfectly with the new season premiere, Phillip Phillips is currently on a little promotional tour for his new single “Gone, Gone, Gone.” We very much like the song, and we also like how, as suggested, has sped it up a little versus some of his earlier live performances.
The video below comes courtesy of a woman who knows a thing or two about the inner workings of “American Idol”: former judge Ellen DeGeneres. We also anticipate this song getting plenty of airplay in the months ahead.
Adam Lambert scores love – The GLAAD Media Awards are always a little confusing, mostly because they have so many different people to honor that they have three separate awards shows (March 16 in New York, April 20 in Los Angeles, and May 11 in San Francisco). Regardless, we’re pleased to report that Adam Lambert has been nominated for Outstanding Music Artist.
Adam has some pretty good competition this year, as well, including the likes of his pal Jake Shears’ act the Scissor Sisters along with Grammy frontrunner Frank Ocean. It’s always an honor to be nominated, and now we just have to wait and see if he wins. (You can view all the nominees here.)
Ryan Seacrest speaks out – There’s not too much in the way of new information here, but you can watch the always-caffeinated Ryan Seacrest speak out in a new interview with “The Today Show” about the season.

Why should a guy like Philip Phillips with a lousy voice get a lot of radio airplay and another guy like Adam Lambert with the greatest voice in a hunded million be denied radio airplay? I’d love to hear the answer to that one if anyone has it!

idol is on its last legs, especially with those judges. adam would have been a brilliant addition and maybe, just maybe, an original would be the winner. the show has really gone down hill since season 8.

I watched AI last night. They should have chosen Adam to be on the panel.
I watched the clips at the beginning when they showed former Idol contestants. There was a flash of Adam’s face and two seconds of Adam walking into his audition. I can’t figure out why they wouldn’t give him more exposure, considering he has become a world superstar. His performances with Queen elevated him to superstar status with people who would never watch Idol. Kris Allen and Lee Dewyze are not setting the world on fire, yet Adam is. Other non-winners were prominently featured.

I’m not even interested in American Idol this year. Nicki Minaj has no class whatsover. Besides this show has one foot in the grave already. It’s been on too long and the same guy wins every year – white guy with guitar. The same goes for X Factor. The only “singing” show with incredible talent is the Voice. Even the singers who were eliminated have more talent than anyone on X Factor. The music choices are excellent and the coaches are entertaining. The coaches work with their teams and guest mentors are there to assist as well. Take a look at some of the videos of Amanda, Terry, Trevin, Cassadee, Nicholas and you will see the high quality of talent on The Voice.
