‘The Mindy Project’ spoilers: Seth Rogen signs on for guest spot
As Fox held its annual TCA panel on Tuesday, it also released some rather big scoop when it comes to casting for a series that has spent much of the holidays under construction: “The Mindy Project.” Since receiving some strong ratings early on there have been concerns as to whether or not the show has started to lose its way a little bit, especially with the numbers starting to fall. With that in mind, we now have a down-graded Anna Camp, Beth Grant becoming a series regular, new characters popping up, and even what could be a hail mary: a guest-starring role from a popular Hollywood star.
While we do not know too many details about this character just yet save for the he was Mindy’s first kiss, we can report now that the man behind the role is none other than Seth Rogen. Rogen of course first got his start doing TV back with “Freaks and Geeks,” and he has since become both a Judd Apatow favorite and a major movie star in his own right. (He most-recently starred in “The Guild Trip” alongside Barbra Streisand.)
Rogen’s appearance is likely set to come during the February sweeps, a time in which Mindy Kaling and company will need support more than ever. This show is currently on the bubble of receiving a second season; its odds are greater than the low-rated (but really funny) “Ben and Kate,” but it also is ranked behind both “New Girl” and “Raising Hope” consistently when it comes to both total viewers and the 18-49 demographic.
