‘The Daily Show’ host Jon Stewart to host Bruce Springsteen tribute event
Jon Stewart has long been known as a big fan of Bruce Springsteen; and unlike another one of the Boss’ major supporters in New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, he actually is qualified to host a massive event celebrating music while also throwing some comedy into the mix.
In a statement Wednesday, it was announced that the “Daily Show” comic is going to be fronting the MusicCares event on February 8 honoring Springsteen as the Person of the Year. There is already an absolutely incredible lineup of artists lined up to support who may be to some of them a personal idol, including Elton John, Mumford & Sons, Alabama Shakes, Faith Hill, John Legend, Eddie Vedder, Neil Young, Sting, Jim James, Mavis Staples, Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Ben Harper, Tom Morello, Tim McGraw, and Patti Smith. Want to know another shocker? Of course, we use this term sarcastically, as the show at the Los Angeles Convention Center is already sold out.
Springsteen is specifically being honored for some of his charity work, which most recently included him hosting a benefit for Hurricane Sandy. Of course, he also just so happens to be a music icon, and has collaborated with more artists than we could really ever count. There’s no word just yet on if this special will be televised, but based on the stellar lineup that we just mentioned, we have a feeling that there are going to be plenty of potential suitors lined up to take on the event for TV.
Is this the sort of special that you would be interested in watching if it comes on TV? If you want to see why our readers voted Jon Stewart as the Best Late-Night Escape of 2012, be sure to head on over to the link here.
