‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 3 spoilers: First look at Marlene King’s directorial debut

Pretty Little Liars“Pretty Little Liars” may be returning to ABC Family on Tuesday, January 8, but for this article we are actually going to look a little way down the road at something that is going to be coming up a little later on the 22nd. Not only does the official synopsis for “Misery Loves Company” sound promising, but the hour is also set to have an additional amount of significance given that it marks the directorial debut of the show’s executive producer Marlene King.

Based on the synopsis (which you can read ahead), there are two things that we can promise. It looks as though Aria is going to be spending a great deal of time with her father’s mistress in Meredith, and it also appears as though Spencer is going to remain completely in the dark about her boyfriend Toby being a part of the now-infamous “A Team”:

“Aria is down for the count when sidelined by the flu, so Hanna and Emily are on their own to follow up on a new clue. Surprisingly, Meredith steps up to help take care of Aria while her father is away, but when it starts to look like Meredith may have ulterior motives to her nursing Aria back to health, Hanna and Emily turn their attention towards saving their friend. Is Meredith just trying to start anew with Aria and be her number one fan, or is there reason for her friends to be concerned?

“Meanwhile, Spencer takes a break from all the sleuthing to surprise Toby for their anniversary.”

The one thing that is interesting about the past two paragraphs in particular is that despite her being an enormous part of the first two episodes of season 3, Mona is now completely missing in action here. What is she going to be up to? For the time being, your guess is as good as ours.

When do you want to see Spencer find out the truth about Toby? If you want to read some more about another favorite couple of Rosewood in Aria and Ezra, you can do so over at the link here.
