House of the Dragon season 3 episode 5: What does Daeron value?
Tomorrow night on HBO we are going to get a wonderful chance to dive into House of the Dragon season 3 episode 5 and through that, we hope that we will learn more about a handful of characters at the same time.
So where should we start here? Well, we do think it is worth noting that Daeron is the sort of person deserving of more airtime given that he is a key cog now in the story. It seems as though Ormund wants to do whatever he can to uplift him, even if that means throwing some of Daeron’s own family under the bus. It does seem as though he cares for his dragon, but what more does he believe in? How much honor does he hold deep within?

Speaking to GQ, here is some of what actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth had to say on that particular subject, including his character’s point of view:
I suppose from Daeron’s perspective, he is a squire. He’s training to become a knight. He’s training to be an honorable person. A lot of what’s been on his mind the past few years is this question of honor. Maybe he’s not surrounded by the best examples. The question this season is, for him, what it means to be honorable. I think the fact he’s questioning that and trying to be honorable is honorable in itself. Unless things change or certain things this season affect him in a certain direction, I think he is honorable. It’s just a matter of whether he can hold onto that despite the chaos around him, which will be tested with the relationship with Ormund and the war ensuing in Westeros.
In the end, we tend to think that we are going to see Daeron fight all of these internal battles moving forward and of course, it will be fascinating to learn where exactly he ends up.
