Sad ‘American Idol’ news: Kris Allen breaks arm in car crash, but is okay

Unfortunately for Kris Allen, it is looking as though his 2013 is off to much of a good start. As a matter of fact, it looks as though he is not likely going to be able to play his guitar for at least a little while as he recovers from a sudden injury that happened over the past 24 hours in a head-on collision.

In a new post on Twitter, the season 8 “American Idol” winner’s mom Kimberly Allen shared the photo to the left, along with the news that he, his wife Katy, and even their popular dog Zorro were all involved in the crash. The good news is that there were no life-threatening injuries, and all three of them are now on the mend:

“From Kris: he’s in a lot of pain, arm broke, may not play guitar for a while. Prayers welcome please! #headoncollision. Kristopher and [his wife] Katy are both pretty beat up but ALIVE! Thank you Jesus! They are setting his arm now and will have surgery tomorrow. Zorro is fine too! Very shook up, but not injured.”

Allen has been performing a variety of gigs over the course of the past several months, and he did recently release an EP of Christmas tracks online in time for the holidays. For a musician, we can’t imagine there being a more frustrating injury out there, but hopefully all of the good vibes that are going tob e coming his way now will help to inspire him create something rather great down the road.
