With “Castle” season 5 on hiatus until the show returns on January 7, we have not exactly had too many opportunities to really dive headfirst into the show with spoilers over the holiday break. However, we have been handed a late Christmas gift now in the official synopsis for the show’s second episode back, entitled “Under the Influence,” which is going to be airing on January 14 after the second episode of “The Bachelor”:
“When an up and coming DJ is killed at a pop star’s album release party, Beckett and Castle must dive into the raucous world of New York’s music industry. Then, when the investigation leads to a troubled teenager, Esposito takes the kid under his wing, hoping to put him on the right track before it’s too late.”
We had already heard a little bit about this episode earlier this year, and what is interesting is that it is the second hour of “Castle” within the past several months to involve the world of music in some shape or form. However, while “Swan Song” focused more on the rock music scene courtesy of a “Behind the Music” sort of documentary that was being made, this is more about the club and party scene that is literally an enormous industry in a city where there is a party going on at almost just about every hour of the day.
As for if Castle and Beckett’s relationship will be tested in any way during this hour, it doesn’t really seem like it; rather, this feels more like one of those self-contained stories designed to merely entertain us until some bigger bombshells are dropped during the February sweeps.
