Ted Lasso season 2 episode 3 spoilers: What to do with Jamie Tartt

As we prepare for Ted Lasso season 2 episode 3 on Apple TV+ next week, our title character finds himself facing a huge dilemma. As a matter of fact, it’s one of his biggest challenges as of yet as a coach — he has to figure out how to balance talent and team camaraderie.

When you look at the performance of Richmond as of late, it’s terrible — they’ve tied every single match this season and that’s certainly not helping them long-term. Sure, the team all loves each other and it’s a tight-knit group, but is that enough in the end? They need more firepower, and this is where Jamie Tartt comes into play. Richmond is the only club who will take him, and Ted’s going out on a limb in doing that. He’s potentially compromising his locker room! Not only that, but Sam’s going to feel like he was lied to after what Ted promised him in episode 2.

Nonetheless, the end of that episode, plus the episode 3 synopsis (per SpoilerTV), make it very clear that Jamie’s sticking around for now:

While the players at Richmond may not like having Jamie around, the truth is that we need him as a viewer. He brings conflict to the story! If everyone at the club is getting along swimmingly, there’s not that much in the way of drama. Even Ted’s starting to break the ice with the new team therapist, and we’d like to actually see him talk some things out with her over time.

Two episodes into season 2 and we have to say: We’re impressed! This is a freshman success story that so far, has managed to avoid a sophomore slump.
