‘Glee’ season 4: Lea Michele talks Rachel Berry’s changing style

Over the course of the past several years on “Glee,” we have slowly but surely grown to see a very different side of one Rachel Berry. If you go back to the pilot of the show, then you are going to be familiar with a teenage girl who often dressed like someone who was often insecure in certain parts of her appearance and her personality, and thus like to keep herself away from the notion of adulthood. However, she has since progressed into being a full-fledged woman who is confident in her own skin, and also determined to make her dreams come true in New York City.

So what does Lea Michele herself have to say about the change this year? Speaking out in a new interview with People Magazine on the very subject, the actress explained that finding the right close for her was very much a collaboration between herself and the show’s own creator in Ryan Murphy:

“It was Ryan’s idea to do this shift for Rachel, having her become a little more grown up, a little more New York … I basically pick out the outfits with our costume designer, and we take all of the photos to Ryan to approve. It’s really collaborative … He’s so involved with everything — what shoes I wear, what kind of eyeliner I put on … I don’t know how he does it. He has so many shows, but still finds the time to help with this.”

So will we see Rachel’s style again evolve within the second half of “Glee” season 4? This part seems unlikely given that she is going to need to evolve a little bit internally before making another drastic makeover, and it looks like she may have plenty of opportunities to do that. After all, she will be getting closer than ever to Brody (Dean Geyer), and her being named the star of NYADA’s winter showcase could lead to some wonderful opportunities coming her way.
