‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Will we see another Trinity or Ice Truck Killer?
We have already tackled some “Dexter” burning questions moving forward into season 8, whether it be the return of Hannah or what happens with Batista, and now we are placing the focus squarely on one topic: could season 8 introduce yet another Big Bad character for Dexter to try and take down? For so many seasons, the likes of Trinity, the Ice Truck Killer, and even to a certain extent the Prado family have been the key push behind our favorite serial killer’s storylines; but now that Deb not only knows his secret, but has killed herself, the course is going to be changing to a certain degree.
Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Scott Buck had the following message to share after the finale on the subject of if we have really seen the end of villains in the traditional sense on the show:
“It will be a different incarnation of that sort of character. We’re not thinking of it in terms of a Big Bad. But there will be people for Dexter to go up against.”
Will some of these people yet again be on the police force? The fact that LaGuerta is dead in the same sort of place that Dexter was “born in blood” is surely going to feel like more than just a coincidence to Matthews, and even Batista could potentially end up coming out of retirement with a little bit of suspicion on his mind, especially since he knows that Dexter was not at his retirement party despite acting as though he would be.
Do you think the show needs some sort of traditional villain, or do you think you would prefer to just see a year that brings back some issues from the past whether it be Hannah, Lumen, or the events surrounding LaGuerta’s death? Hey…there is not need for a “big bad chaacter” in season 8. Deb and Dexter are the bad characters now…

I was very happy for the most part for the entire year. Much better than last year in my opinion, lots of twists and turns. Didn’t really like the Russian stuff, didn’t feel like it was very believable… Russian mafia coming to Dexter for help??? Liked the addition of Hannah, absolutely love Deb, she is my favorite character on the show, her and Dexter of course. I don’t think that Deb will handle this new situation very well, she has a deep sense of right and wrong and Dexter has already rocked her world. Anxious to see how she will cope. One thing I haven’t liked throughout the seasons is how Dexter is never allowed to have any companionship. I felt like Lumen should have stayed on the show at least through part of the next season or even a couple of seasons before that was played out. Oh one more thing, Deb being in love with Dexter…..really….bad move, just my opinion. Love, love the show…keep up the good work!!!
