“Scandal” is a show that in many ways has functioned at its best through chaos, and we are going to see yet another example of this pretty soon. How soon? Let’s just say that you are not going to be forced into waiting too terribly long following the show’s return from its winter hiatus on January 10.
According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, you can be ready to see some enormous things going down in the show’s 13th episode this season, and for one good reason: this was originally supposed to function as a sort of season finale, given that it was at one point only handed 13 episodes. Since it had such a short first season at the end of last spring, ABC was a little hesitant to go all of the way with the show just yet.
So will this be the episode where we find out more about what Huck’s fate will be after his arrest for a crime that he did not commit? Only time will tell there, but we can at least promise you that the show is not going to wait too much time to start addressing the issue following its concern. Since the back-nine pickup happened after the original story was plotted, what you can probably expect to see moving forward now is the show continuing to build until episode 13, and then possibly simmering back down for a week or two before building to an epic finale come May.
At the rate the show is going right now, Shonda Rhimes better be ready for a long haul. The show’s past three episodes are some of its highest-rated yet, and given the failures of some of its other programming and the end of “Private Practice,” we considering “Scandal” a near-lock to be renewed.
