‘Homeland’ season 2 finale spoilers: Who’s in the sheet?
Are you ready to make “The Choice”? Now, we’re not talking about that terrible summer dating show that is a stain on Cat Deeley’s record; rather, this is the title for what should be on Sunday night an emotional season 2 finale for “Homeland.”
In some ways, this episode really just feels like a coda to a story that is almost complete. Abu Nazir is dead, Brody has left Jess and his family, and Saul was fired by the CIA and threatened not to try and pull any tricks with them. What ground is really left to cover? Mostly, this is going to revolve all around Brody and Carrie, whether it be their relationship, how those close to them react to it, and whether or not we are going to see Quinn put a bullet in the Congressman’s head.
Even in spite of the warning, we know that Saul is going to try and stop the assassination from happening. In addition to that, though, he also is going to have a pretty clear warning to Carrie: don’t be with this guy. Even if he did everything that the CIA asked him to over the course of the season, he is also a man who at one point put on a suicide vest and nearly killed a room full of people. If Saul knew that he was the reason for Vice President Walden’s death, he’d probably be shaking Carrie with rage.
The only real question that we not yet addressed based on the promo is this: are we witnessing the funeral of Abu Nazir with his body being dumped in the ocean, or is it possible that this is intentionally setting us down the wrong path?
