‘American Idol’ notes: Kelly Clarkson, Jessica Sanchez, Scotty McCreery

American Idol LogoIt’s the holiday season, and given how much exposure many “American Idol” contestants have had in the world of Christmas music, it is fair to say that you will be seeing plenty more of this very thing in our show “notes” in the weeks ahead. On this particularly occasion, two out of thre three videos we have to share are specifically from this world.

We’ll kick things off with a pretty hilarious video starring Kelly Clarkson, as she stopped by Blake Shelton’s Christmas special on Monday night after “The Voice.” The best part of this whole video is her pretending as though the two are competing in some sort of singing competition, mostly because this is exactly what every show on TV is these days. Granted, the jarring part of this is then seeing the two transition from jokes to a slow ballad about Jesus.

Scotty’s new music video – Scotty McCreery is of course in the holiday season courtesy of his new album “Christmas with Scotty McCreery,” and his new video for “Christmas Comin’ Round Again” is absolutely perfect for him. The lyrics are touching, and the footage of him as a child is pretty priceless, especially in how it shows you just how far this guy has come in the span of a few short years.

Scotty’s album is already certified gold, and it is sure to sell plenty more copies throughout the holiday season.

Elsewhere… – This may not be related to Christmas, but it is still nice to see Jessica Sanchez performing at major events months before her album comes out. The season 11 runner-up was a guest at the “Trevor Live!” event this weekend benefiting The Trevor Project, and she performed a Christina Aguilera classic in “Beautiful.”

The only thing that may be better than this performance is Joel McHale’s introduction. Sanchez was also at this even with a number of “Glee” stars, which is only fitting given that she will be on the show a little later on this season.
