“The Amazing Race” may have visited a few familiar locations already this season (see Moscow for an example of that), but what excites us is that Sunday night the final four teams are all going to be visiting a location where the show has never been before: the Spanish island of Mallorca. Located in the Mediterranean Sea as the largest of the islands off of the country’s coast, the area is a popular tourist destination for many people in Europe.
With rich Spanish country and a lovely location, this means that we are going to be in for a rather fun episode with a celebrity connection to boot: the teams will be visiting the practice courts of tennis superstar Rafael Nadal, and will also have to enter a bullfighting ring … where they will ironically be the bull. It is during this challenge that we have the first sneak peek from the episode, which features some tension for Trey & Lexi as the two struggle to navigate the costume well. To make matters worse, Lexi even ends up injuring her finger and starts crying.
As for the other preview video, it involves some sort of engaging search for “the devil” amidst a sea of very creepy people wearing horns and make rather horrible noises. These sort of fetch quests for the teams are rarely so terrifying, so this one is easily one of the best that the show has pulled off. In addition to that, it also makes us raise a valuable question: where in the world are Josh & Brent? Are these two really so far behind that they have no hope at all of catching up? If these two do somehow manage to find a way to pull off a victory, it may take the cake for the most “WTF?” victory for a team ever.
