Ratings: ‘Nikita’ season 3 has new high; ‘Last Man Standing,’ ‘Malibu Country’ recover
As cynical as we have been all year when it comes to the ratings for “Nikita” season 3, we are very pleased to report when something good happens in relation to the show. With that, we have to present now some numbers that will surely make the legion of fans for the CW series at least a little bit happy.
Overall, Friday night’s all-new episode drew a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is not only a season high, but also a number that could actually get the show saved from cancellation when you look at everything else the network has on at the moment. Fridays are tough for pretty much anything not named “Supernatural,” and we know already that the 22 additional episodes needed for syndication could help “Nikita” reach that all-important milestone (even if it is not likely to last much longer than that). Fans of the show can also argue now that the show has pulled in the same sort of rating that we have seen from “90210” on a number of occasions already this year. We should also point out that the 1.24 million viewers for “Nikita” also marked a season high.
Elsewhere, it was also good news for ABC’s comedy lineup, which seems to be validation to them each receiving give more episodes this year. “Last Man Standing” (1.6) and “Malibu Country” (1.5) were each up 14% and 7% from the demo marks of a week ago, and they were enough to rank the network #2 for the timeslot behind only “Undercover Boss” and its 1.8.
While this may not be huge news, the only thing really left reporting is that “Blue Bloods” managed to get over 11 million viewers, but only a 1.5 in the demo. For those of you numbers geeks, consider this: out of everyone who watched this show, less than 20% were in the range that advertisers look for. This, dear friends, is one of the oldest-skewing shows on TV.
