‘Girls’ season 2 spoilers: HBO releases first trailer for Lena Dunham’s return
“Girls” fans, get ready to smile: Hannah and the rest of the gang is going to be back soon.
On Friday, HBO released the first look at their Emmy-nominated series‘ second season, and thus far, it actually looks to be even funnier than the first. Now that some of that necessary exposition and context is out of the way, the characters have a little bit more freedom to actually be themselves; and luckily, their strange, awkward behavior is rather funny really across the board. The trailer does a good job of showing off all four leading ladies in their own way, though while still giving Dunham the majority of the screentime.
Patrick Wilson (“A Gifted Man”) makes his first appearance in the clip as a doctor who also turns into a love interest for Hannah, but he is going to have plenty of competition. For one, Adam is still going to be around, and Hannah is going to hilariously start wondering if this guy wants to date her or murder her at this point after everything that they have been through. There also are some other guest stars stopping by this year, including “Community’s” Donald Glover playing a man who could have some romantic interests of his own.
When “Girls” premiered last year, it felt at times like a show that was trying so hard to be hip that it at times felt uncomfortable. However, it started to really hit its stride in the weeks that followed, and has since become one of the finest examples of strong comedy on TV.
