‘Boy Meets World’ spinoff: Will Rider Strong be joining the cast?

Boy Meets WorldEveryone’s favorite misunderstood bad boy with the heart of gold, Shawn Hunter, was a major part of the worldwide phenomenon that is known as “Boy Meets World”, so when we heard that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will be coming back to the new spin off series “Girl Meets World” to reprise their roles as Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence we wondered how or even if Rider Strong (Shawn) would be joining them for the new Disney Channel series.

Even though we have Savage and Fishel back on board, it looks like Strong will not be joining the cast (at least not in any kind of regular way) and says that he has no official involvement with the show at this point. He said: “Boy Meets World was a defining aspect of my life, and I cherish those seven years.  So I am extremely happy for Ben and Danielle to be able to continue the story. At this point, I have no official involvement in Girl Meets World. There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years, but Girl Meets World will be, and I think it should be, its own show. It will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters.”

So what about Will Friedle who played Cory’s brother Eric Mathews of William Daniels who was the irreplaceable Mr. Feeny?  Entertainment Weekly contacted both actors and neither would comment about their involvement with the show. This doesn’t mean that they are not coming back (maybe for a guest appearance?), but at this point no one really knows.

“Girl Meets World” will focus on Cory, Topanga and their daughter as she embarks on her own adventures through school just as her mom and dad did.  Are you excited to see the show being revitalized for the Disney Channel or do you think they should’ve left the series alone? Leave us a comment and tell us what you think.
