‘New Girl’ season 2, episode 9 preview: Nick as Ernest Hemingway
Who knew that Nick Miller had such serious ambitions at becoming an author? We sure didn’t, but on Tuesday night’s new episode of “New Girl,” we are going to see just what happens when Jake Johnson’s character suffers what appears to be the fourth or fifth midlife crisis that he has had over the past year or so.
We don’t know for sure just what starts off his new desire to be the modern-day equivalent of Ernest Hemingway, but we have a feeling that Nick’s umpteenth reminder that he works as a bartender may be one of the one of the reasons why he is considering a career change. Now, the real question here is just how serious Nick is going to take this. Will the guy end up getting himself a home in Key West, or publishing his own version of “The Old Man and the Sea”? Considering what happened a couple of months ago, we have a feeling that he is at least capable of writing a book and entitling it “The Old Man and the Swimming Pool.”
While Nick is going through whatever sort of issues are plaguing him at the moment, Jess is going to have her own activity: cooking eggs. Yes, it sounds boring, but when you consider that “Eggs” is the title for this episode as a whole and not “Hemingway,” you have to consider the possibility that perhaps there is far more here than first meets the eye. (Then again, this is Jess: who else would be so capable of turning such a mundane activity into a big deal?)
What do you think about this clip, and do you fancy the idea of Nick as an author based on some the crazy stories he tells as it is?
