‘Gossip Girl’ season 6, episode 7 review: Can [spoiler] just end already?
There are only three episodes left of “Gossip Girl,” and we wish that we could say that everything was building towards a satisfying conclusion. Instead, it feels a little bit more like we are spinning our wheels, and some of these characters are really going in the opposite direction.
Take, for one primary example here, Chuck Bass. How much longer are we going to have to endure this story involving the man’s daddy issues? It’s not really that exciting anymore, and it also feels like we are just witnessing the same exact story play out week after week. This time around, the reason that Chuck was freaking out was because of the fact that Blair was finally finding some success in her fashion career (and with no interference from Sage this time). Meanwhile, he was just stuck dealing with the same old problems time and time again.
Speaking of the same old problems, remember that hope that Dan would be free of his dark side now that he and Serena are on the way to getting back together? Well … that’s not happening, at least not yet. The author is still talking to Georgina about releasing a chapter all about Blake Lively’s character, and thus holds all of the power to ruin her life just for the sake of her own personal gain. This episode also featured a blast from the past in Billy Baldwin, who is now working alongside Ivy since it was apparently not enough to see her together with Rufus earlier this season.
What do you think about the direction “Gossip Girl” is taking for their final season: is it moving fast enough, and are you worried at all now that the show is going to have to rush the final few episodes to get everything tied together?
