‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: More from Daniel Gillies on Elijah’s return

If you love “The Vampire Diaries,” it is rather hard to not love Elijah. Daniel Gillies’ character is certainly the most intriguing of the Originals, at least in that the man seems to have somewhat-noble intentions despite being frequently surrounded by a family who seems to relish in just about every one of the seven deadly sins. (Rebekah, for example, seems to be the master of envy, while Klaus has pride down pat.)

Sadly, Elijah has been more or less missing in action save for a flashback episode earlier this season, and as we reported his involvement in the CTV medical drama “Saving Hope” may keep him from making an extremely lengthy appearance on the show this season. However, that does not mean that we are going to be seeing a Mystic Falls devoid of Elijah, as Gillies tells Hollywood Life that his character has an official return date close to set in stone:

“I am returning soon … [Executive producer] Julie Plec is saying episode 15 and 16, but I am going back to film very soon! I am very lucky to be on two shows [The Vampire Diaries and NBC’s Saving Hope] that are on the air.”

Sadly, the circumstances that bring Elijah back to Mystic Falls are currently unclear, though we are hoping at present that it will revolve in some way around getting his brother Klaus in line. Then again, this may not be needed so much if Caroline gets closer to Joseph Morgan’s character, and thus takes responsibility for this. (Shippers can dream!)

What sort of storyline do you want to see for Elijah when he does arrive on “The Vampire Diaries” season 4?
