‘The Walking Dead’ season 3 spoilers: Meet Tyreese

It’s taken them long enough, but “The Walking Dead” season 3 has finally cast a character that many fans of the Robert Kirkman series have been waiting to see, and they really could not have found a better actor for the role based on resume alone.

Multiple sources have confirmed that Chad Coleman (of “The Wire” fame) has been booked for the major role moving forward of Tyreese. As for what sort of role the man is going to have on the AMC series, that is still to be seen. In the comics, he served largely as the Robin to Rick’s Batman; however, Daryl was not in the comics, and he more or less fills the same sort of role on the show. Let’s just say this makes things complicated, and it is made rather worse by the fact that there are such other characters as The Governor and Merle to worry about.

Sadly, Coleman has not done too much full-time series work since the HBO show ended, and has instead made a number of appearances on smaller gigs over the past few years. One of the few exceptions to the rule here was the short-lived (and rather disappointing) Fox sitcom “I Hate My Teenage Daughter,” which he was never really given much to do in the role of Gary. Let’s just say that on this show, he is probably going to be a good bit busier.

What do you think about this casting, and does a part of you cheer just about every time you see a “Wire” alum grace the screen again? We want to hear some more of your thoughts below!
