‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9 spoilers: Chandra Wilson looks to the future
There are not too many shows out there with the capacity to make it to a tenth season; and of the four major broadcast networks, only CBS (“NCIS,” “CSI”) and NBC (“Law & Order: SVU”) have drama series that fall within this distinction. Could ABC be joining them soon with “Grey’s Anatomy”? If so, this would mark an even greater distinction in a serialized show actually making it to a place that is traditionally only procedural territory.
At the moment, the “Grey’s Anatomy” situation is simple: they are in season 9 now, and the good news is that many of the actors already signed options for another year when they signed new contracts last year. With all of this in mind, another year seems likely given that the ratings stay solid; and while that, we have the following commends from Chandra Wilson via Entertainment Weekly that give us yet another reason to have hope:
“I think the consensus is that as long as our writers want to keep writing, we’re here to keep riding the ride … As actors, we’re very cognizant of the opportunities we’ve been given. Sooner or later it will be the end.”
Wilson’s character is in for quite an exciting arc coming up on the show, as we are getting close to her big wedding day with Ben. Based on what we have heard from her so that, though, not everything is going to end up going even close to according to plan. Bailey does not want to make an enormous deal out of anything, but sadly for her this is not even remotely the way in which some other people feel about her present situation.
How long do you think “Grey’s Anatomy” can last, and could you see even a season 11 working even without some of the main characters?
