One Direction, ‘Family Guy’s’ Seth MacFarlane among ‘Most Fascinating People’
Every years, millions of Americans sit around and wait for the opinion of one person as to who are “The Most Fascinating People” of the year: Barbara Walters. Strangely, this makes for captivating television as the creator of “The View” struggles to include key figures from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, education, and science. Granted, we have a feeling she may be regretting naming David Petreaus the Most Fascinating Person of 2010. Last year, however, the honor went to Steve Jobs.
We will not know who is given the top honor until the show airs next month, but on Monday Walters did announce that the following people at a part of the list.
One Direction – Given that they are closest thing to the Beatles since … well, the Beatles, it only makes sense that the British boy band be included here.
Seth MacFarlane – To think, one year ago the “Family Guy” creator was coming off of the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. Now, he’s hosting the Oscars, appearing on “Saturday Night Live,” and getting this honor.
Gabby Douglas – You knew someone from the Olympics would be on here, and Gabby is the perfect choice given America’s fascination with gymnastics.
Hilary Clinton – This one is interesting, mostly because it’s hard to say what really makes Hilary more fascinating this year than any other, given that she has been in the spotlight for some time.
Chris Christie – Then again, maybe Walters was hoping to be bipartisan here given that Christie on this list is almost a given. At the moment he has to be the front-runner for the Republican ticket in 2016, even though he has not even said he will run.
E.L. James – “50 Shades of Grey” surged in sales this year, and thus making James the most-talked about author since Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling before her. Not bad considering the racy nature of these books.
Ben Affleck – A few years ago, Affleck was largely a lightning rod for his relationship with Jennifer Lopez. However, he has since become the most accomplished young director in Hollywood, and “Argo” is an Oscar favorite already.
Who do you think should be named the Most Fascinating Person of the Year?
