‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Can Caroline use Klaus again?
“The Vampire Diaries” season 4 has felt at times like a revolving door when it comes to some of its relationships, and one prime example of this very thing comes to us courtesy of Caroline. From one standpoint, she loves Tyler and wants to spend every waking second with him; however, she is also well aware of the fact that he has his own motivations, and there is another hybrid out there in Klaus who has some sort of odd fascination with her. On a psychological level, this is alluring to Caroline thanks to the fact that she is not typically the girl who is sought-after; but in this case, she is someone’s one and only … even if that someone just so happens to be the most wicked man in Mystic Falls.
On Thursday night’s new episode, we saw her character inch closer to being with Joseph Morgan’s vampire in the sense of her relationship going south with Tyler after leaking a plot that ran against some of Tyler’s own goals; and while Caroline does not seemingly have much interest at all in being with Klaus right now, she at least is cognizant now that he can be persuaded into going along with some of her plans.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly on the subject, here is what Candice Accola had to say on the matter:
“Caroline knows the kind of hold that she has over Klaus. I don’t think that she necessarily trusts fully that he will never just switch on a dime — I don’t think anyone can. I think that’s what so enticing for viewers to watch a character like Klaus. The second that you think he’s being the nice guy, then he’s the bad guy. The second you think he’s just a bad guy, he’s a nice guy. He isn’t a one-note bad guy. He does have a genuine side, and I think that through Caroline, we’re getting that perspective. Caroline knows the kind of hold that she has over Klaus. I don’t think that she necessarily trusts fully that he will never just switch on a dime — I don’t think anyone can. We will really see a great example of the next move with Klaus and Caroline during the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, which is the site of the photo above that features a lovely dance sequence seemingly between the two characters. Will this do for them what it did for Damon and Elena during season 1? Only time will tell, but we are on the edge of our seat already.
