‘True Blood’ season 6: What does ‘Arrow’ casting mean for Janina Gavankar?
There is some great news coming up for fans of “Arrow” and Janina Gavankar … but we are not entirely sure that it bodes well at the same time for fans of “True Blood.”
Based on the new announcement that has been confirmed today by Warner Bros., the actress has just signed up for a recurring role throughout the second half of “Arrow” this season, where she will play the roll of vice cop McKenna Hall. What is interesting about this part is that she and Oliver Queen had a history long before he was on that now-famous island, though we do not know if it was romantic in the same way that it was with him and Laurel. However, we do know that their paths will cross just as Oliver is trying to deal with an evil dealer (“Fringe’s” Seth Gabel), who is based on the classic comic-book character of Vertigo.
So what does this news mean for “True Blood” season 6? The writing could be on the wall here that she is not long for the world of Bon Temps; that is, unless she has some smart schedulers. It’s unclear when she starts filming her “Arrow” arc, but production on the HBO drama series is getting set to kick off at the start of the new year. Luna’s life is currently in the balance based on what we saw during the season 5 finale, and there are really three options left for her: she could survive and stay with Sam, die, or have her character take off somewhere else in order to keep her daughter safe (which would make perfect sense).
Are you excited about Gavankar’s casting here, and what do you think that it means for her “Arrow” future? Be sure to share all of your theories below!
