‘American Idol’ season 12: Nicki Minaj says she, Mariah Carey are ‘fine’

For this Thursday edition of “American Idol” notes, we are focusing primarily on something that has received a plethora of tabloid headlines over the past few months: the state of the relationship between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. When a video online surfaced showing the two parties exchanging some heated words, the assumption was that these two ladies were going to at each other’s throats pretty much for the entirety of the season.

But is this really the case? Not necessarily, since we are after all looking at a pair of grown women. In a new interview with MTV News, here is what Minaj had to say about the experience as a whole along with saying that she and Carey are doing “fine”:

“It’s been a new experience for me. And it’s just been interesting for me to have a 9 to 5 job … I haven’t done that in such a long time. I haven’t had to come somewhere and do a specific thing. I’ve been kind of creating my own schedule for the last few years, so it’s interesting, but I love the people there, so that makes it OK.”

Nicki and Mariah have joined Keith Urban and Randy Jackson for some various auditions around the country, and now the show is getting ready to start one of its most intense filming periods out there: Hollywood Week. It is here that the contestants will be narrowed down into a small group, and from here we will end up learning just who ends up making the live shows that will begin several weeks into the new season.

Do you think that Nicki and Mariah are going to get along fine once the live shows actually kick off?
