‘Gossip Girl’ series finale spoilers: Now with a touch of ABC’s ‘Revenge’

While there may be plenty of reasons to smile moving forward on “Gossip Girl” season 6, there is also going to be some sadness mixed in by the time we reached the series finale on December 17. After all, there may be nary a dry eye in the audience at the moment the two-hour special concludes.

So what are we hearing about now? It’s possible that you heard previously about a plane crash that would be happening in the penultimate episode of the show, and in addition to that, E! News is reporting that there is going to be another tragedy that occurs. Sadly, we don’t know many concrete details about it outside of one rather cryptic tease: for those of you who are major fans of ABC’s “Revenge,” whatever unfolds will be similar in many ways to an event that transpired during the ABC show’s first season.

“Gossip Girl” has already taped the finale, and by and large they have done a pretty good job of preventing spoilers from coming out to the media. The only scene at all to really become the target of intense speculation is a wedding that was shot, and this is not even guaranteed to have happened the way in which it was interpreted by the media. After all, executive producer Josh Schwartz has already promised that they did film some scenes specifically for the purpose of being red herrings that would trip up the paparazzi.

Luckily, there is still plenty more to look forward to with this show elsewhere in the finale, including a surprising friendship that comes after several weeks of division, an appearance by some old faces in Taylor Momsen and Connor Paolo, and Kristen Bell even making a cameo after spending so many years as the narrator for the show.
