‘American Horror Story’ season 3 confirmed; Jessica Lange on board
If you love the way that “American Horror Story” is currently handling its “Asylum”-themed season, we have some good news for you now: the FX drama will be around for a season 3! The good news was confirmed on Thursday by FX president John Landgraf, who had the following message to say in a statement that we personally find to be hilarious. Why? For the sake of Emmy voting, he is still trying to make the argument that this is a miniseries rather than a full-fledged series that just happens to change its setting, time period, and characters every year:
“With American Horror Story: Asylum, Ryan [Murphy] and Brad [Falchuk] have raised the bar in every way from Murder House, the firstAmerican Horror Story miniseries.”
The good news does not end there, as FX also confirms that Jessica Lange will once again return to the show, though for the time being it is unclear as to what her role will be. At first, it appeared as though her Sister Jude was going to be one of the primary villains this season, but in between Arden and the newly-revealed Bloody Face in Dr. Thredson, she actually is somehow starting to look like one of the good guys.
There is no word just yet on who else from the cast this season will join Lange, but we have a feeling that it will be somewhat similar to the pattern between seasons 1 and 2, where a number of new faces signed up to join some already-established players in new roles. For an actor, this has to be one of the most rewarding jobs on TV: you get to not only work with the same crew every year, but you still have an opportunity to play roles that are new and refreshing.
