‘The View’: Barbara Walters rips Lindsay Lohan’s team over ‘Jay Leno’ booking

Let this be a lesson to all future people in publicity who cancel an interview with Barbara Walters: if you are not clear when it comes to your explanation why you are making this move, she is probably going to call you out on live TV.

On Monday morning’s new episode of “The View,” this is precisely what happened when Walters start to explain that she was recently contacted by Lindsay Lohan’s new publicity team saying that she would not be sitting down with her to discuss her Lifetime TV movie “Liz & Dick” and other topics. What was the reason for this? Basically, Walters was told that the troubled former teen star was not “up to” doing an interview with her. This is where things get shocking: only a matter of days later, it was confirmed that Lohan would be instead promoting the project on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

Walters made it clear that she was not upset over the fact that Lohan’s team canceled her interview in order to find a venue that would help to rehab her image a little bit more; what she was upset about was the way in which the news was revealed to her:

“If they’d said to me ‘You know, Barbara, she isn’t up to the kinds of questions that you might ask’ … If they had told me that, I wouldn’t feel quite as disappointed as I do today.”

Lohan’s team opted against doing the Walters interview after a story broke that the LAPD is considering charging Lohan with lying to police after an accident that happened while she was driving to “Liz & Dick” production earlier this year. There has been no word here just as yet as to what will happen, but they are still veering on the safe side to ensure that Lohan does not say anything that could hurt her in a future case.
