‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: When does Iceland production kick off?
There was some confusion when it came it the actual start date for “Game of Thrones” season 3 in Iceland, largely because we were hearing some conflicting reports as to when the show was actually going to start filming with the likes of Kit Harrington, Rose Leslie, and the rest of the cast Beyond the Wall in the country. At first, indications were that it would be happening in a matter of days; then, there were suggestions that it actually was not going to be until later this month.
Well, you can now put all of the speculation to rest thanks to David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ assistant Cat Taylor, who also produces the Making of Game of Thrones blog: according to her Twitter feed (which is about as good of a source as you are possibly going to get), filming for these scenes will be starting up by the start of next week. Some crews have already been at work in the country working on the set, which is an extensive job just to ensure that it is ready for the actors and cinematographers.
So how long will filming last in the country? It really should not take longer than a few weeks for producers to get everything sorted out here, even though there are a myriad of challenges that come with filming in this country in between short days, windy conditions, and of the course the natural sort of fatigue that can come from being in frigid temperatures for an extended period of time. With that being said, these Iceland shoots are among the most beautiful out of anything on the show.
