‘South Park’ to air ‘Obama Wins!’ episode one day after election
If nothing else, you have to say this about “South Park”: Trey Parker and Matt Stone have some serious guts. For the second time in four years, the show co-creators are airing an episode themed around the Presidential election one day after it happened … and they created it with enough confidence that Barack Obama would win that they framed the entire episode around him securing this victory.
How do we know this? All you have to do is look at the official title for the episode: “Obama Wins!”. In addition to this, the plot of this episode is going to revolve largely around Cartman getting in possession of something that could end up changing the course of the entire election. There is probably a twist that comes along with this, but Parker and Stone are notorious for never giving away their biggest secrets; as a matter of fact, we are pretty lucky to know as much as we know now at the moment. (Let’s just hope there’s not too much blood, or government conspiracy, this time around.)
Four years ago, “South Park” created an episode about the election between Obama and John McCain, and the creators later admitted that they would have had a hard time making the story work (outside of it being a historical oddity) in the event that Obama had ended up losing. This ultimately was a slightly less decisive victory for Obama this time around, but still enough for him to pull it off, and for Parker and Stone to air the zany episode that they have been planning without any eyerolls.
