‘New Girl’ season 2 spoilers: Jamie Lee Curtis talks playing Jess’ mom

“New Girl” season 2 is on hiatus tonight thanks to the Presidential Election, but next week Zooey Deschanel and company will return to Fox with another new episode. Not only that, but the week after that the show will give us the first real taste of someone we have been dying to meet ever since the announcement was made: Jess’ parents! Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner are going to help her celebrate Thanksgiving this year, but it is not exactly going to be a smooth situation thanks to the fact that the two have been divorced for some time.

So what does Curtis herself have to say about being a mother figure to such a quirky character? Speaking in a new interview with E! News, the actress explained that with her role, we will easily see where exactly Jess gets some of her spirit from.

“I’m a little energetic. I think she got her energetic gene from me.”

As for the actual story of the episode, Curtis claims that Jess is going to try and “Parent Trap” her parents into getting back together … and there is a serious part of us that wonders if Jess is going to somehow convince her parents that she has a twin (impossible as that would be) and then get Cece to play the part. Would this end very badly? Without a doubt, but it would still be funny.

“New Girl” already has its work cut out for it following last year’s Halloween spectacular, which featured Justin Long as Jess’ quirky love interest Paul … who later in the season took part in the most awkward sex scene in TV history.
