‘Nashville’ spoilers: Want some ‘True Blood’ with your music?
Even though “Nashville” has not exactly been the platinum hit record that ABC may have been hoping for in the ratings so far, critics and fans alike love it. So why not give these folks another reason to smile?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the latest actor to join Connie Britton’s country-music soap is none other than “True Blood” alum Daniel Buran, who will appear on a recurring basis throughout season 1 as Cy, the lead singer of a rock band with Bon Jovi comparisons who is on the hunt for a new guitar player.
For Buran alone, this should be a nice change after playing very angry and/or evil people on the small screen for the past year and a half. On “True Blood,” he was known for his portrayal of werewolf packmaster Marcus Bozeman, who was eventually killed off at the end of season 4 by Alcide (Joe Manganiello) and Sam (Sam Trammell) after a series of violent exchanges. Meanwhile, on “Dexter” season 7, Buran’s character of Wayne Randall chose to take his own life by jumping in front of a truck. Even though his work on the Showtime drama seems to be done, his character is going to continue to have an imprint as his old girlfriend Hannah McKay (Yvonne Strahovki) is becoming involved as both a possible love interest for Dexter Morgan and a possible target for his famous table.
For “Nashville,” the intelligence behind this move may extend beyond just finding the right actor for the part. Buran has a following for some of his genre work, and it could bring a new audience to the show that does not typically consider country music to be one of their top interests.
