For most of Legacies season 2, we’ve had a pretty central question: Who is under that infamous red hood?
Well, on tonight’s new episode, we had a chance to get a clear answer — and a rather shocking one as well. We knew that this was going to be a character we knew; however, we did not anticipate that we were going to learn that the person under the red hood just so happened to be the Necromancer. Were you shocked? We can say this with a certain degree of certainty here — we were shocked. This wasn’t where we thought the story was going, but it’s going to spawn in some other interesting directions.
Also, remember this — just because we have an answer to this particular mystery doesn’t mean that we are devoid of answers elsewhere. Also, remember what the Necromancer can do, especially when it comes to what he chose to do in regards to Clarke. The Clarke as we knew him is gone — finite. In his place will prove to be someone else. How this unfolds could lead to all sorts of callbacks — with Kai being fairly high up on the list.
What we think of this big cliffhanger as at the moment is the case of one door closing, only for a number of doors to then open after the fact. There are going to be opportunities for all sorts of big reveals to come, especially since there’s another hooded figure and that this show never wants its characters to breathe easy. The best thing about this cliffhanger is simply this: The opportunity for this to bleed into all sorts of other interesting theories over the weeks to come. The more that we can think about what the future could hold, the more we’ll get to explore some enticing possibilities.
Also, the way that Clarke died — heads literally rolled — is the sort of thing that should generate all sorts of conversation moving forward. It shows you what this character is capable of within this particular context.
