God Friended Me season 2 episode 11 spoilers: The link between friend suggestions

God Friended Me season 2 episode 11 is entitled “A New Hope,” but before anyone wonders, we don’t think that there is anything Star Wars related going on here. Yet, there are some new hopes for Miles as he desperately looks for clues on who is behind the God Account. It’s all tied to Joy, who arrived back in town at the end of Sunday night’s new episode.

So what is the common link between friend suggestions? The God Friended Me season 2 episode 11 synopsis makes it clear that it’s a little more simple than we imagined:

“A New Hope” – Miles discovers a new clue as to who is behind the God Account when Joy (Jessica Lu) reveals that his friend suggestions have all been clients of the same insurance company. Her theory is reinforced when they realize that Miles’ latest friend suggestion, Abe (Judd Hirsch), a Holocaust survivor looking for information on his sister’s fate, is also a client of the company, on GOD FRIENDED ME, Sunday, Jan. 5 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

We imagine that, at least in some ways, this shouldn’t be that surprising — everyone needs insurance, and if someone at that company had everyone’s personal information, that gives them a jumping-off point. Still, though, we don’t quite think that an insurer’s going to know all of these private details about clients’ lives. There’s something a little bit more delicate going on here. Sure, the God Account is working to help a lot of people, but it’s also jumping into a lot of people’s personal privacy.

Aside from the God Account story, we should get a pretty powerful story mixed in here thanks to the presence of Hirsch. These are the sort of stories that we love to see from this show, ones where Miles can really make a difference — though he’s going to be rather-shorthanded here since it doesn’t seem like Cara is helping.
