Is The Good Doctor new tonight over on ABC? Within this article, we come bearing a little more information on that — coupled, of course, with what’s coming up next.
Let’s go ahead and get some of the bad news out of the way now — there is no new episode of the series on the air tonight. What’s the reasoning behind that? It’s as simple as that ABC has effectively ended most of their Monday-night programming for now. Dancing with the Stars, which was the previous lead-in for the show, is over. Meanwhile, the upcoming season of The Bachelor is not on the air yet. It’ll be starting on Monday, January 6 with a whopping three-hour premiere. The Good Doctor is returning a week later on January 13, with an episode that should prove to be emotional.

When the show does return, the #1 storyline we’re expecting is Shaun working to deal with the aftermath of losing his father — and the feelings that he may have for Lea. The two were intimate at the end of the fall finale; it wasn’t a sexual intimacy, but it was an emotional one that we have not really seen him find with Carly. He’ll probably end up sharing some of his experiences with Carly, and that may make her question whether or not he’s interested in Lea more so than her. Shaun has to figure some of this out for himself, and there’s also then where Lea stands in all of this. Shaun’s found his heart broken pursuing her before, so he could be setting himself up for heartache again.
Of course, to go along with this romance, there are also more medical cases and struggles for everyone else. Think in terms of Claire in therapy and some other mystery storylines that we’ve yet to see unfold.
