Doctor Who season 12 spoilers: Series boss downplays Daleks

Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, series boss Chris Chibnall had the following to say about whether or not these famed characters could be making their presence felt once more when the show comes back:
“I wouldn’t expect Daleks this series … Yes, I’m being serious. You might want to expect Cybermen though.”
It’s always hard to imagine Doctor Who without Daleks, given that they are some of the most iconic monsters in the franchise and there’s always something thrilling about having them as a part of the show. We also do think that it’s possible that Chibnall could be trolling all of us … if he wants Daleks to appear, why would he announce that in advance? It’s just something to think about.
Regardless of whether or not we get Daleks on the new season, we do have a feeling that we’re going to be seeing a lot of cool stuff. This is one of the most imaginative shows out there and we’ve got a sense that the writers are going to deliver all sorts of cool stuff moving forward. Hopefully, it’s going to be enough to deliver on a lot of different expectations that we’ve got currently in our head on the subject.
Doctor Who season 12 is going to premiere on a special night come January 1. After that, you’ll have opportunities to see it once a week on Sundays. We imagine that there will be all sorts of other news coming up.
