Silicon Valley season 7: Could it ever happen on HBO in the future?
Well, let’s just start this article off with this: We wouldn’t have a whole lot of high hopes for the future of the series. This is a series finale for a reason! It was a collaborate decision to say goodbye after six seasons, and there were a lot of different reasons for it. Take, for example, the careers of some of the original cast taking off elsewhere, or the story reaching more or less its natural conclusion.
We can’t say that the series is ending at its pop-culture zenith, given that the buzz around TJ Miller’s exit, and most headlines surrounding the former star in general, took some of the light out of the series. It just hasn’t had the say sort of irreverent joy that it once had the past couple of years, that that’s not to say that this is a show devoid of humor now. It still has an excellent cast and it depicts a world that few other shows have fully tried to grasp. It’s also told a rather unique underdog story led by nuanced characters, people who aren’t always the likable underdogs you want them to be.
While we’re sure that there are going to be some people out there who would be eager to see a Silicon Valley season 7 in the end, we just don’t think that there’s any reason to be hopeful about it. While HBO has revived properties inlcuding Sex and the City and Entourage into feature films, we don’t think this show ever had the peak popularity of either one of those. If anything, we’d think that they are more likely to revisit another recently-concluded show in Veep, though that feels rather unlikely in its own way.
We’d just say to enjoy these final episodes of Silicon Valley for exactly what they are — an entertaining foray into this world.
