At the moment, AMC is plotting a very slow rollout when it comes to Better Call Saul season 5. There are no full trailers out there, but we are getting a chance to see a number of little video teases. Basically, it’s enough to give us a reasonably good sense thematically for what is coming up next.
Or, in the case of the teaser below, it works more as a simple reminder that Gene’s famous Cinnabon is back in business. All you see here is a mall opening things up, but it’s the same one where Jimmy McGill is working at following his days of being Saul. We’ve seen little teases of Gene over the past few years, but never anything so substantial as to get a sense of where things are actually going. Could that change moving into season 5? We certainly hope so. If nothing else, it would be nice to have an opportunity to see the character embark on a great path of redemption.

For the moment, it feels very much clear that Jimmy’s not going to be reuniting with Jesse given the events of El Camino. Meanwhile, Chuck McGill and Walter White are dead. We don’t think that any of Saul’s former clients are going to be showing up. We’ve beaten this drum many times already, and we’re sure that we will continue to do so over the course of the next few weeks. Yet, we can’t help it — we’d love to see Jimmy and Kim reunite within this timeline and through that, see if there is a relationship worthy of being salvaged. We know that we’d love to see it, but we also recognize that there are no guarantees. We don’t even know what happens to Kim in the present!
Better Call Saul season 5 is going to be premiering when we get around to Sunday, February 23.
