Homeland season 8 trailer: A story of Carrie, Saul, and trust
For its final run, it also seems as though we’re going to see the Claire Danes – Mandy Patinkin series head back to its roots. If you look below, you can see Saul handling his new position as National Security Adviser, and he is doing whatever he can to grapple with a new crisis in Afghanistan. This is not an easy one for him to contend with, and it’s also one that he will enlist Carrie’s help in order to figure out. This will bring Danes’ character back to Kabul, a place that she has visited before … but it’s far from the same place she remembers.
Speaking of things that Carrie remembers, this is going to be an integral part of the final season of the show in its own way. After all, she’s missing huge gaps of time and that leads to some inevitable questions as to what happened then. Was she working with some not-great people and she didn’t recognize it? That is one possibility, and we know that trust has been an issue before. Saul has at times proven himself to be Carrie’s most-loyal supporter and we think, at least for a time, he will take on the role again. It really just comes down to whether or not there is a breaking point coming. Will there be a time in which he just can’t believe in her anymore? We’ll find out at some point soon … just not too soon. After all, the waiting’s going to continue for a little while longer.
Let’s hope that this is a Homeland that can match the greatness of the first couple of seasons, or even the last couple where it got some of its groove back. Just forget about some of the stuff that was in between.
