Moving into the Madam Secretary series finale on Sunday night, it seems as though things are looking up for Elizabeth McCord. The impeachment saga may be over, she has the support of the American people, and she may even have a chance to prepare for her daughter’s wedding! There are a number of intriguing stories that have come to pass this season, and that leads to many questions. Take, for example, what sort of drama awaits in the finale.
On some level, you could have argued that this past episode was a worthy finale — yet, there is something, and you can see some of that in the sneak peek below. This is where Elizabeth is going to work hard in order to establish the Equal Pay and Family Leave Act, a way to ensure that women are treated equally in the workplace and don’t feel an inordinate amount of pressure or frustration.
As if seeing Elizabeth work to pass this act was not exciting enough, know this: You’re also going to have a chance in this episode to see some notable guest stars. Not only are you going to see Cicely Tyson appear as a woman who was born the same day women were given the right to vote, but you’re also going to see appearances from members of the U.S. National Team. We imagine that there are going to be some heartfelt conversations about equality and hope within this episode, mostly because these have shown themselves, time and time again, to be focal points of this show.
Will there be some conflict in the finale? Probably, given that this is the basis for most TV. Yet, we don’t think the goal here is going to hammer anything too harshly or depress the show’s viewership. This is meant to be a positive conclusion to a series that has long sought to offer up some happiness in a world where it seems easy to embrace darkness instead.
