If you love Magnum PI and Hawaii Five-0 sharing some familiar faces, you should be excited by Friday’s new episode. After all, you’re going to be getting an appearance from none other than Gerard Hirsch!

In the video below, you can see an appearance from none other than Willie Garson as the character, who has made some sporadic appearances here and there on Hawaii Five-0 over the years. Hirsch isn’t familiar with Magnum, Higgins, and the rest of the cast, but he actually has some resources that could prove useful in a mission that is going on. This time around, it has to do with making sure that someone in danger — someone who has a history with Magnum — ends up being rescued. The endgoal is to get him to Oahu, but that’s easier said than done. He’s been a victim of human trafficking and making sure the right boxes are checked is not going to be easy.

So while moving around humans is not exactly Hirsch’s primary line of work, he’s clearly learned a thing or two about transport through all of his days in the art world. He could be useful and, if nothing else, it’s going to be rather fun to see him turn up here.

In a lot of ways, it makes sense that we would end up seeing Hirsch roped into missions on both shows — the same goes with a lot of other recurring characters. Sure, there’s almost a million people living in just Oahu alone, but how many of them have the skill set of someone like Gerard? You are a little bit more limited in the people you can loop into various missions, at least as opposed to crime shows set more in the mainland. It’s a pretty specialized job, after all, we’re talking about here!

This episode of  Magnum PI should be rather fun — and, at the same time, it could also be one that gives you an even greater sense of the title character’s past.
