V Wars season 2: Is it renewed, canceled? Premiere date hopes

V Wars

Following today’s big season premiere, is there a chance that a V Wars season 2 will arrive over at Netflix? Within this article, we’ll break down the series’ future … let alone when the show could premiere.

Here’s the bad news at the moment — there is no confirmation that we’re going to see more of the Ian Somerhalder vampire drama. With that being said, we know that there’s enough material out there to adapt, just as we also know that there could be an interest. Somerhalder has a fanbase dating back from The Vampire Diaries, and to go along with it, Netflix does tend to give many of its shows a season 2. While there has been a ton of frustration as of late over its cancellations, most of them are of shows that were season 2 or later on in its run. (Sure, there are still exceptions — Everything Sucks! is one of the shows that comes to mind, whereas American Vandal is another.)

We would imagine that at some point over the next few months, Netflix will announce a decision one way or another. One of the things that V Wars may have going for it is that it’s premiering at a time where there isn’t some huge influx of competition elsewhere. Many major networks have already cooled off on some of their programming in the new year. Meanwhile, it’s the holiday season and everyone may be down to relax a little bit more. We’re not sure that they’ll be down to relax with a vampire show, but the possibility is at least there.

So when could V Wars season 2 premiere, provided it gets renewed? The earliest we imagine it is around the same time next year, but with Netflix’s release cycle, it’s a little harder to get new episodes of a show out once a year. It takes a long time to write a show, film it, and then get through post-production in enough time to premiere all of the episodes at the same exact time we’ve seen in the past.
